MacFinish II USB

The MacFinish II USB is the latest version of our famous MF II series. It’s a low cost system with the MacFinish Interface close to the PC and fully battery powered.

This version is limited to 1 camera and has standard 1MB on-board video memory, but is delivered with the “MacFinish virtual memory option” for longer image recordings. Optional upgrade to 2 MB or 4 MB on board video memory, to record races at speeds >1000l/s in the internal memory.

The digital MacFinish box is connected to the PC with a USB-cable. The length of an USB cable is normally one meter and can be extended to maximum 15 meter. This is a limitation, but the camera cable can be up to 100m.

Advantages of this version:

  • Low Cost system if the MacFinish-Interface box is close to the PC. The MacFinish II USB is therefore the ideal choice for any athletics club, small timing organisation or as low-cost backup system for the MacFinish II Ethernet camera.
  • With the optional 2 or 4 MB memory upgrade you’re able to capture a full long distance race even when your operating system of your PC is crashing! After the restart of your computer you can easily readout the MacFinish camera memory.
  • No serial ports are needed anymore for your PC, data to the Timing Scoreboard goes over the USB cable! Link to Athletics Manager can be done over Ethernet.

The MF II USB has a monoline CCD sensor. With this kind of sensor it is really easy to align the camera exactly on the front of the finish line.
The MacFinish II USB is the ideal choice for any athletic club.

MacFinish 2D USB

TimeTronics proudly presents the MacFinish 2D USB camera, THE worldwide innovation in photofinish timing for 2009! The MacFinish 2D USB uses all the knowledge from our MacFinish II generation in combination with the latest technology in sensor development. The 2 dimensional (2D) sensor known in the digital photo and digital video market is now used to build a state of the art photofinish system.

Camera – Computer connection = USB 2.0

For this camera we have chosen a USB connection. USB allows us to stream the photofinish data at a very high speed from the camera to the computer. A 5m active USB cable is delivered with the system.

Advantages of this version:

  • 3 way motorized lenses available
Auto focus - Auto iris - Motorized zoom
  • All start signals are registered at any time
  • Enhanced alignment procedure: instant video image of the finish line
  • Light sensitive and affordable lenses
  • Dynamic choice in vertical pixels versus capture speed up to 2500 lines per second - up to 1280 vertical pixels
  • Fully battery powered
  • Optional VideoID
  • ...

MacFinish II Ethernet

The MacFinish II Ethernet camera itself is now a complete professional photo-finish system.

Both versions, MacFinish II Ethernet and MacFinish III Ethernet have 256Mb...2Gb of internal memory and produce photo-quality pictures of 30 bits colour depth for up to billions of different colours, and a superb dynamic range in case of local or temporary recording of high contrast images.

Both versions guarantee the race and time recording internally inside the camera, independent of what happens with the personal computer.

This camera accepts any F-mount type of photographic fixed or zoomlens. The most used are the 28-70mm and 70-200mm F2.8 zoomlenses.

The MacFinish II Ethernet uses a monoline RGB-CCD of 1500 pixels that produces pictures of 500 color pixels vertical resolution.

The MacFinish II Ethernet is ideal for professional athletics and horse & greyhound races where reverse mirrors are used.

The standard internal memory of the MacFinish III Ethernet has been increased up to 256 Mb for 2 reasons. First of all, with the increased number of colours (up to billions of colours) and the enlarged amount of vertical pixels (up to 2000 pixels), the picture consumes a lot more memory due to the huge amount of information. Secondly, the extra memory allows the operator to capture a race of more than hundreds of cyclists. If required, this memory can be further extended up to 2Gb.

The MacFinish III Ethernet uses a 3-line RGB-CCD that produces pictures of up to 2000 pixels vertical resolution. It will depend on the user-selectable c-mount lens how many pixels (1000/1333/2000 pixels) are actually recordable.

Manual and motorized lenses are available, fixed as well as zoomtypes.

The MacFinish 7.x software will use the middle (green) sensor line for actual timing, and places the two other (red and blue) picture lines on top of the green to show sharp pictures.

The MacFinish III Ethernet is ideal for horse, greyhound, bicycle and regatta races when the most detailed picture is desired. Another reason for choosing the MacFinish III Ethernet is its extreme high light sensitivity.

The clock of each MacFinish system is factory calibrated with a resolution of 0.1 ppm, and all MacFinish systems are now powered by a maintenance-free 12Vdc battery for guaranteed operation, even in case of a mains 110/220VAC power failure. A battery charger is of course standard included.

All MacFinish systems can use desktop or portable computers.
Please browse through our detailed list of specifications below if you would like to compare the different versions, or to read details of the MacFinish of your choice.

TIPS

  • Some large projects with for example official + backup timing demands can better not be solved with multiple standard configurations, for the simple reason that it is more interesting to use common elements, like underground cables, for both official and backup timing. Also some sports can use one (universal) TimerBox for different purposes, like for example TimeTrial and Track cycling.
  • We advise unexperienced persons to start investigating the standard solutions, and then contact us with their project description and specifications, so that we can propose a customized solution, without any obligations from your side. Of course you can also directly contact one of our distributors to assist you in the product selection for your application.
